Slow down and enjoy a leisurely drive along the waterfront or through Burlington and its countryside. Don't forget to pick up a Burlington map at the Visitors Centre before you depart. East Lakeshore – from the Visitors Centre head east (left) on Lakeshore Road stopping at waterfront parks en route Sioux Lookout, Paletta Lakefront and Burloak Waterfront. Continue on to Oakville to watch the boats come in at Bronte and Oakville harbours. Beach Drive – from the Visitor Centre go west (right) on Lakeshore and turn left at the Hospital (Beachway). Stop at the Beachway snackbar for ice cream, take a walk along the boardwalk to the pier lighthouse, enjoy a picnic on the beach or explore the playground. Turn left onto Eastport Drive, Hamilton where you can stop at the Canal to see large freighter and pleasure boats go through the lift bridge. Walk, cycle or drive along the waterfront trail to Confederation Park and stop at Hutch's or Baranga's for a bite to eat and a cool drink overlooking the waterfront. Another stop along the waterfront is the Sunrise Gallery which is facing the beach and has unique gardens and rooms of local artwork and gifts. For a detailed itinerary click here. Rural Burlington – from the Visitors Centre head north on Brant Street until it becomes Cedar Springs Road (north of Dundas Street). Continue north through farmland and numerous golf courses until you reach Britannia Road. Go east (right) on Britannia to Guelph Line and then north (left) to Lowville, nestled in the belly of the Niagara Escarpment, on the shores of Bronte Creek. An ideal rest spot for a hike, picnic or toboggan ride. Great Drives – visit key attractions from one end of Burlington to the other. Start at the Royal Botanical Gardens in the west end of the city, proceed south east to Joseph Brant Museum, Discovery Landing at the Waterfront and the Burlington Art Centre. Travel east along Lakeshore to Paletta Lakefront Park and Mansion and then head north on Burloak to Bronte Creek Provincial Park and continue north to Conservation Halton scenic areas and the Halton Region Museum.
