Don’t let the winter weather dampen your creative spirit! The AGB presents free family-friendly activities that encourage you and your little ones to come together and create art inspired by our winter exhibitions.

Explore the patterns, shapes, and geometries that make up the spaces all around us, and playfully re-arranging these forms to create your own unique artworks. Family Open Studios are presented on Sunday afternoons in conversation with Caroline Monnet: Holding Up the Sky and our new year-long interactive program, Living Library. We encourage families to explore our exhibitions during their visit to discover the connections between their family studio project and the work of our featured artists this season.

This Week’s Project: Geometric Image Making

Explore the many possibilities found in simple angles by using tangrams to create a wide variety of pictures. Arrange and trace the many shapes available, then use watercolour to finish your own unique artwork.

All activities are ideal for school-aged children aged 4 years old and up. Younger children may need assistance from their caregiver.

How Visitors Can Participate:

Choose a one-hour block of time (1pm, 2 pm, or 3pm start) and the number of seats required for your family group. Please arrive 10 minutes early on the day of the program.

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your free registration via Eventbrite or reach out to us so that we can ensure another family can have your spot, as program capacity is limited to just sixteen participants per hour. We ask that families be mindful of allowing as many community members the opportunity to attend this program as possible when reserving spots.
