A PANEL TALK WITH FOUR LOCAL MYSTERY WRITERS
A guaranteed thrilling discussion with a super-group of crime fiction authors. Melodie Campbell, Vicki Delany, Jennifer Hillier, and Hannah Mary McKinnon share the stage to talk about the appeal of crime fiction, what it’s like to be part of the crime-writing community, and what goes into imagining and researching murder and mayhem before putting it on paper to shock and delight readers.
ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Melodie Campbell, called the “Queen of Comedy” by the Toronto Sun, writes capers and golden age mysteries. Winner of ten awards, including the Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence for The Goddaughter’s Revenge, Melodie has 17 books and over 60 short stories, but she got her start writing stand-up. The Merry Widow Murders has just been released. Melodie lives in Burlington.

Vicki Delany is one of Canada’s most prolific crime writers and a national bestseller in the U.S. She is currently writing the Tea by the Sea mysteries, the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series, the Year-Round Christmas mysteries, and the Lighthouse Library series (as Eva Gates). Vicki is the recipient of the 2019 Derrick Murdoch Award for contributions to Canadian crime writing. She lives in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Jennifer Hillier is the author of Things We Do in the Dark, which spent 15 weeks on The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star bestsellers lists and won the Thriller Award for Best Audiobook. Her previous novel, Little Secrets, is currently being adapted for television for Peacock by NBC Universal. Born and raised in the Toronto area, she lives in Oakville with her family.

Hannah Mary McKinnon was born in the UK, grew up in Switzerland and moved to Canada in 2010. Her suspense novels include The Neighbors, and bestsellers Her Secret Son, Sister Dear, You Will Remember Me, Never Coming Home, and The Revenge List. She also writes romantic comedies as Holly Cassidy. Hannah Mary lives in Oakville, Ontario, with her husband and three sons.
