April 27, 2021
It’s that time of the year again, where we get to celebrate the Mother/Mother figures in our lives. While this year will be another stay at home celebration, there is still a lot to explore to make the day memorable and #SupportLocal with curbside pick up and/or local delivery available at each retailer.
For those Mother’s out there with a sweet tooth, Burlington’s chocolatiers are busy crafting away some decadent treats. Back by popular demand, Le Creme de la Creme, is offering their annual chocolate covered strawberries, while Walker’s Chocolate has a us melting for their chocolate heart box (yes even the box is made of chocolate!) filled with 12 treats inside. For those looking for a foodie mother’s day themed activity to do with the kids, look no further than Christy’s Gourmet Gifts, offering themed cookie decorating kits. Can never go wrong with the biscotti from Mrs. B’s. Mom would love that with a nice cup of tea and a good book!
For those looking for a different type of sweetness, Kelly’s Bake Shoppe is now taking pre-orders for their Mother’s Day cupcake menu scheduled to be delivered between May 2nd to 9th, 2021.
The Royal Botanical Gardens is offering a curbside treat box for pick up curbside. Included in the box are cupcakes, scones, macarons, biscotti, lemon glazed cookies and an assortment of David’s teas. Order by Tues May 4 for pick up on Friday May 7.
Brunch & Dinner
Mom’s are sure to work up an appetite on their special day, which is why Burlington restaurants have put together some special menus to celebrate. Let Loondocks or Industria Pizzeria & Bar take care of your brunch needs with their Mother’s Day menus or pick up some afternoon tea treats at Saving Thyme. For those looking for a lunch or dinner option there are lots of restaurants offering special menus for Mom’s Day. Taste of Burlington has a great list of options for special Mother’s Day meals.
Now that you have the food covered, it’s time to turn our attention to the gift. Newbies to Downtown Burlington Wave’s in the Village just dropped a line of stylish mom life theme crewnecks to relax in style. Also helping moms relax from a rather stress filled year is Joseph Tassoni with his newly launched line of bath and spa gear including a mother’s day combo which includes a waffle bathrobe, scrunchie, hairband and a beautiful flower arrangement. In fact, why not extend mother’s day relaxation past lockdown and give a spa package from Spa in the Village to be used once we can all venture out again.
Fashionistas are well served with all the options available this year. Including:
Pure Boutique: Offers a collection of accessories, home decor and paint project tools. They just received a new collection of purses from GTA brand Pixie mood just in time
Styled Lounge: Offering a collection of skin and hair care goods, they’ve put together a Mother’s Day Box filled with their favourite products, wine and gourmet popcorn.
Harmony Fine Jewellers: Has a collection of earrings, necklaces and bracelets to make anyone sparkle. Use the code UNOde50 on their website for a free gift with purchase over $200
Artisanville: Dedicated to showcasing handmade goods, they have put together a variety of gift baskets to find the right collection of gifts.
If having to choose from all the options is making you sweat, The Downtown Burlington BIA recently announced their coveted #DTBURLBox: Mother’s Day edition. The box is filled with goodies from a selection of downtown Burlington vendors and will let mom enjoy a taste of the variety available locally. They also put together a Mother’s Day guide from Downtown retailers.
Our friends at the Aldershot Village BIA have also put together a Gift Guide with some great gift ideas from businesses in Aldershot.
Even from home, Museums of Burlington has committed to bringing you the annual Mother’s Day Victorian Treats and Tea event. Participants will be guided through a tea and treat experience by a Tea Sommelier and get to virtually explore the ladies parlour and hearth at Ireland House. This event is sure to sell out, so get your tickets early!
No matter how you decide to celebrate Mother’s Day, we hope all Moms have a safe and special day.
