Burlington comes alive in the summer with many fabulous festivals, patios perfect for dining al fresco and lots of outdoor activities to chose from where you can enjoy the lake and escarpment.

Sound of Music Festival

The waterfront and downtown come to life with the annual Sound of Music Festival, Canada’s largest free music festival that kicks off our summer during the week leading up to Father’s Day in June. Enjoy an invigorating mix of acclaimed Canadian and international performers, and emerging performers on bistro patios and our waterfront stages.  You can stroll the downtown streets, lakeside boardwalk or Waterfront Trail taking in the various performances.

Canada Day celebrations on July 1 includes music and a spectacular waterfront fireworks display.  And for kids of all ages, check out the Kite Festival in June or the Children’s Festival in August.

Food Festivals & Markets

Canada’s Largest Ribfest is truly the “Super Bowl” of ribfests, held every Labour Day weekend, featuring many “ribbers,” music, crafts, carnival rides for all ages.

The summer Taste of Burlington prix fixe program is offered for 3 weeks leading up to Labour day weekend so you can enjoy delicious local fare for a great value.

Starting in late May until Thanksgiving farmers markets and on farm markets are bursting with local produce and products across the city so be sure to visit and take home some delicious items in season.

What to Wear in Summer

Burlington enjoys warm, summers. June to August daytime high temperatures range from 24-27º Celsius (75-80º F). Evenings, can be cool especially by the lake, so it’s best to pack a light jacket or a sweater so you can enjoy an outdoor patio or night time stroll.
