Halton Emancipation Freedom Celebration Festival

This year the Halton Black History Awareness Society (HBHAS) celebrates 190 years since the passing of the British Emancipation Act (1834) which was inspired by Canada’s Act Against Slavery in 1793.

Burlington, Ontario has been recognized as being the first city in the world to declare August as Emancipation Month celebrating inclusivity and community integration. Freedom Festival 2018.

The 2024 Free festival includes exquisite music and dance acts, youth and children’s events, artistic/musical and historical forums, and an extensive marketplace of cultural cuisine and memorabilia, and exceptional multi-culture ambiance. Bring your shades, lawn chairs, and community spirit and enjoy the celebration.
